Google won't start

I run Google Chrome, Windows 10. Yesterday my desktop ran just fine, today, Google would not load. Not sure what's going on. I've not done anything out of the normal.

Have you booted to safe mode and tried it there? What about running Malwarebytes? What about uninstalling it and reinstalling it?

I’ve unplugged and plugged numerous times. Thanks for your thoughts.

Whenever I use Edge to pull something up, “bing.com closed the connection” comes up.

I can now get into the forum again, but that seems to be about it. I can't get into my bank account, or newspapers, or anything else. I can't do a search for google to install.

I think there's something else going on here, John.

Even in safe mode, using Edge, I can't get chrome installer to download. I keep getting the following error message:

Hmmm… can't reach this page

It looks like www.bing.com closed the connection.

Try:

I can't search for anything without getting that message.

Are you in safe mode with networking? If not you need to be cause networking allows internet to work. Regular safe mode doesn't allow internet. Can you download Chrome to a usb flash drive from a different computer? Sounds like you have a few issues going on here actually between chrome and edge.

Yeah, at this point, Chrome is less of an issue than what's going on elsewhere between chrome and edge. More later. Thanks for all your thoughts and ideas.

OK, crazy things can happen and a reboot of your modem and/or router could fix this issue.

If it doesn't then we should look at the network properties of the network card.

In Control Panel, go to Internet Options and make sure you have the following setup:

If that is good, please do a ipconfig /all and hit enter. We would need the information from your Ethernet and/or Wireless information. If you can take a picture that would be great, if not, you can do the following command: ipconfig /all > C:\ipconfig.txt and it will create a text file that you can copy to a thumb drive and move it to a working computer.

If this computer is wireless, and you have a hotspot, try connecting to the hotspot to see if you have the same issue.

Do you have any internet security programs like Norton, or McAfee, etc?
