Google won't start

I run Google Chrome, Windows 10. Yesterday my desktop ran just fine, today, Google would not load. Not sure what's going on. I've not done anything out of the normal.

Have you booted to safe mode and tried it there? What about running Malwarebytes? What about uninstalling it and reinstalling it?

I’ve unplugged and plugged numerous times. Thanks for your thoughts.

Whenever I use Edge to pull something up, “bing.com closed the connection” comes up.

Malwarebytes and Bitdefender scans have found nothing

Yes, I was able to get in using safe mode. Can I install chrome while in safe mode?

I can now get into the forum again, but that seems to be about it. I can't get into my bank account, or newspapers, or anything else. I can't do a search for google to install.

Download chrome installer while in safe mode. Then boot to regular mode and run the installer.

I think there's something else going on here, John.

Even in safe mode, using Edge, I can't get chrome installer to download. I keep getting the following error message:

Hmmm… can't reach this page​

It looks like www.bing.com closed the connection.


Try:

• Checking the connection
• Checking the proxy and the firewall

I can't search for anything without getting that message.

Are you in safe mode with networking? If not you need to be cause networking allows internet to work. Regular safe mode doesn't allow internet. Can you download Chrome to a usb flash drive from a different computer? Sounds like you have a few issues going on here actually between chrome and edge.

Sounds like you have something blocking your connectivity. Does it happen to any other devices on your network or just this one?

Yeah, at this point, Chrome is less of an issue than what's going on elsewhere between chrome and edge. More later. Thanks for all your thoughts and ideas.
