GPU O'Cing

Yes it is possible! I found software to overclock my 9600 but i am n't to sure about trying it as the card is only a few months old

You can download a thing called CoolBits that allows you to overclock "the Nvidia way". After downloading and using Coolbits just right-click on your desktop and select Properties. Settings tab and then Advanced. Then there should be a tab in the new window that has the name of your graphics card. Then there should be a thing that says frequency or something. And then you can up the core and memory speed but make the frequency higher always by 5-10 Mhz. But watch out for overheating. And when you start to see glitches in games or 3D graphics lower the frequency by 5-10 Mhz.

HAHA... sorry that was good. the only thing that will increase is clock speed. such as MHZ... the speed at which information travels.
ram pixel pipelines and vertex shaders all stay the same.
a 6600 has 8 pixel pipelines and 3 vertex shaders.
a 7800gtx has 24 pixel pipelines and 8 vertex shaders.
a 6800ultra has 16 pixel pipelines and 6 vertex shaders.
also, overclocking your video card includes two types: core and memory

increasing the memory frequency will give you better results normally, but overclocking the core frequency will also give you good results.
id stay a good 10-20mhz under your max overclock though, to increase card lifetime.

Exactly, overclocking your GPU with a program such as ATI Tool will only change the Core and Memory speed, another way to get more performance is to flash the card's BIOS, but this is limited to only certain cards.

such as works when the utility suggested would work :)
All right, All right, i've only had ATI cards so i never needed to look for an oc'ing app for nVidia cards. But ATI Tool works great with ATI cards. I think i heard that ATI Tool also works on some nVidia cards, but i may be wrong.

haha yea ok guys he needs help...
the 6600 isnt that great, personally id rather get a new card... or processor considering thats a p4 2.66ghz you have listed.
either way if it plays games without lag id say dont bother to overclock it.
it will cut lifetime probably in half, and void any warranties and such.

and when I overclock it what will it increase?
When you overclock, the clock will be increase :P

Yes but there's [now] different types of core clocks

Maybe MS Word needs to work on their autosummarize feature more?

so do you suggest I OC it or will it get f***ed up?
If you have to ask, odds are you wont notice the difference

I beg to differ, on my old system i could play HL2 at higher settings and at a higher framerate after i overclocked. And i know your not a fan of 3DMark, but my score jumped from ~3700 to ~4200 after.

And guess what? You didnt have to ask me that. Furthermore lets not forget HL2 is a CPU bound game and not a GPU bound one.

i dont think those scores are much different. what... a jump from 37 to 42 fps? lol... thats not very noticeable at all.
