Graphics Boost?

I was wondering if I could use an old 8800gts to boost my integrated graphics....Why you may ask? The 8800gts works but it makes my screen all fuzzy and makes these weird red lines....and it always stays at 800x600 resolution...i was wondering if I could use it to enhance the on-board since I can't use it as a primary card...I have an old computer I'm trying to get to play wow....761GX-m754 mobo, 768mb ddr ram, amd sempron 3000+, 20gb ide hdd as a boot drive and extra 120gb for storing things on....I'm hoping thiers some software that can do this...Thanks.
 
No you either use the onboard, or the discreet graphics card, not together.

The 8800gts is a decent card, but sounds like you got a broken one. If it's artifacting, it's dead. The only way to fix it is to bake it in the oven (after removing the plastic shroud and heatsink of course) at 385 degree's for 7-8 minutes or so. Most of the time this fixes it, but most people aren't willing to do it because it's pretty risky....but your card is dead already so I dunno what the big deal is.

Sadly after reading it seems that I'm going to have to get a new oven after i try this which is not really worth it....if i can find an old one then i will try it..until then I will keep you posted...unless their is another way to heat it to 385F
 
I think I'm going to try my local craigslist since buying a new one to use it for this seems kind of pointless.... I will look today and if I find one I will try it and post the results here
 
Alright so I found one for $5 and I did everything that it said in the article...only problem is that all the capacitors and the fans power input were melted...i guess it was worth a try for $5
 
Since it didn't work I am looking at cheap cards on my local craigslist...not trying to spend over $20...If anything the card should run at 20-30fps on 1024x768

Smaller cards take less time in the oven. But the 8800gts I would leave in for about 7 minutes max.

I tried with an 8600gt once and blew up a capacitor at 7 minutes. So if I try it on like an 8600gt it only gets 6 minutes max.




Those cards are still too weak. You need atleast an 8600gts, a 9500gt may work but you won't find one for $20.
