GTX460 vs GTX560Ti

Hey guys,

I am interested in buying one of these two but I would like to know if is really worth the extra $75?

The GTX460 1GB (Fermi) is $175 and GTX560Ti 1GB is $249.

still a 75 buxk diff but cheaper and both have 30 in mir's

but for the money i think a 6850 is better than a 460 and a 6870 will be between the 460 and 560ti with the 560, which those 2 are good too, and there's also the hd6950 which is also great so these are some more options and really all are great, and i would go for a 6950, then 560ti, then 560, then 6870, then 6850 and 460 idk which of those 2 is better

The 460 is the better buy IMO.

The 560 Ti is basically a GTX 460 with the last cluster of shaders unlocked.
 
The only thing that I can say is is it worth the extra bit of performance for the money. It would probably be better to prepare for the future.

And clocked higher, and uses less power. At stock clocks the TI is about a third quicker, which is a big difference, and an overclocked 460 is still only just on or below the power of a stock 560 Ti, so go and factor in OCing, you still have that ~30% difference.

I would take the Ti every single time, even if it is a little more

I think I will save up that extra 75 so I can buy the 560Ti.

The 460 looks good but I don't want to end up with a card that wont handle games like BF3 and COD in max settings.
 
well the 560ti can't even completely max out bf3, if you plan for 1080p max shading AA and AF then you aren't going to get as far as you hoped, bf3 looks the way it does for a reason, it takes a monster to max

But can it be maxed out with the AA and AF off or on low?
 
not sure about that, you might be able to with those off or on lower and on just high shading or something, not too sure what it can do, but it will still get you some pretty high settingsa and all and the game looks so amazing it doesn't need to be completely maxed out or anything, i think someone said it takes like 2 580's to completely max out with a constant 60+ frame rate
 
2 sli'd lower end cards will either not perform as well or if you're lucky and they do the drivers are screwy for all dual gpus so that's gunna cause issues, a single 560ti is better.
 
actually, according to anandtech benches, that is a good bit better really, although it'll be pulling a lot more power and all
 
I would get the GTX 460!

Sorry to hi-jack thread. You think my system can play BF3 maxed out? I am getting it in a few weeks and I am a bit impatient to find out!
 
don't think it can max it out at 1080 with ~60fps constant, and also don't add a second gpu if that was the plan and idk if enermax is a good brand so that might need to change at some point

A single 570 should have it fine at constant 30 - 40 FPS.

And Enermax make some very good power supplies, it will not need to be changed
 
well i've never really heard of enermax so couldn't say they were good so i said idk about the brand, good to know though.
