As far as I know H2 will only work with Vista, but I could be wrong.
Edit: Well I guess there is a way to get it to work with XP, if anyone figures it out you should post it, I wouldn't mind getting it either.

Your computer will be fine i get between 34-70 fps (not looking at a damn wall lol) with an 8500gt/athlon 64 x2 3800+ only thing that's kinda making me mad is i have a track ball mouse and looking side to side i have to move the mouse so far even when i have the sensitivity to it's max!! xD

The product ID location is located in the registry, just like HALO. Go to the Start Menu > Run > regedit.
It should be located in My Computer/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft Games/Halo 2/1.0
If not, find your HALO 2 registry location or create it.
Right click and create a new PID string value in the 1.0 folder, if it doesn't work try creating the PID string values in other HALO 2 folders. In the Name column it should say PID, and the Data column should have the Product ID key.
After that, you've registered the Product ID Key. To check if it worked, start up Halo 2, go to Settings, and then About. It should have your Product ID there. (I jumped with joy when I saw it) :]
Start up HALO 2 and register for LIVE, it might take you to a broken link but go back in-game and try again/see. If you need to register or log in your LIVE account using a seperate internet browser see FAQ.
Then you should have LIVE and the Product Key activated.
