HGST travelstar What is their disk diagnostic program? What brand of drive do you have? You are better off running the drive manufacturers disk diagnostic program to determine if drive is healthy.
So would it be the WinDFT from this site:HGST is Western Digital/Hitatchi
Can you paste the crystaldiskinfo screenshot for reference?
I used Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics because WinDFT wasn't working that's the correct one for WD right?Either Drive Fitness Test or Western Digital Diagnostics should work. I would run it in dos though not windows. Download hirens boot cd ISO and create a bootable cd, both programs are on there.
Already running will take a few minutes before the scan results come up.Run the extended test not just a smart error check.
Okay finished scanning it said found some bad sectors that might be repairable but when I clicked repair it gave me this:Run the extended test not just a smart error check.
So how would I fix that?Usually a 'repair' of bad sectors is reallocating them. Since you have pending reallocations that generally means the drive has issues allocating those extra sectors.
You don't really unless you replace the drive. So how would I fix that?
So is the drive damaged? Would I need to replace it?You don't really unless you replace the drive.
