Hardware problem

That is a clear switch.
-unplug the computer
- remove the battery
- move from disable to enable for 10 seconds
- put battery back in
- plug it in and then you can power up

This can cause system failure, do it once and leave it in the default position, it will be to the right.

DO NOT DO THIS WITH POWER ON OR PLUGGED IN!

A missing one will not matter. But if you put one where there is no hole in the board it will ground out on the bottom of the board. You only use them where there is a ground strip around the motherboard hole.

TBH i think there is two where the holes ant i ant sure? Should i remove the whole mobo and have a look then try the cmos reset ?

Yes you will have a problem if you have a standoff touching the bottom of the board if there is no hole. It can do everything from short the board temporary till its removed to fry the board.

I have just taken it out and there was two in the wrong place (center of the board) do you think this could be the cause of the problem?

That can cause a problem:P. Will not know for sure till you get them in the right places, rehook up everything and try again.

One stand off can be touching just one thing and it can ground out.

I have flashed the cmos but still getting no display. I will try using some 800mhz ram 2moz and if that fails i will try using a 9600gt. Thanks for your help guys, if you think of anything else please let me know :)

try the RAM first.....if nothing happens try a different card.

- 1066 MHz RAM with current card doesn't work

- 800 MHz RAM with current card......does that work?

- 1066 MHz RAM with new card..... does that work?

- 800 MHz RAM with new card.....does that work?

Try the setups in that order and see what happens

It is 12:30 am here and I have to get to bed......Good luck and check out the Asus forum for your motherboard, they have some great info on there. Also you can look at a trouble shooting guide that will tell you what to check and what to test. It will narrow it down step by step and get you a better idea of what is causing the problem.

Feel free to send me a message, I'll check tomorrow and see what happened. Post the results of your trouble shooting if it works or not....it will drive me nuts not knowing what the result was:)

the trouble shooting guide is on the Asus website, here is the link. Just input "motherboard" in the first drop down. "LGA 775" in the second drop down. And scroll and find "P5E" in the third drop down. The bookmark it.

This will have all the info for your board. The latest BIOS, utilities, chipset drivers and just about everything you will need. Get to know this site well! You'll be here all the time getting stuff.

Good luck!
