HDD - OEM - or Retail ?

If I'm purchasing a HDD, is there a compelling reason to get a Retail version vs OEM? Anything in the Retail package I might need and be missing? Newegg has a 500 GB WD hard drive with 32 MB Cache for $60 bucks. But it's OEM version

The drive itself no, only thing is different that is instead of comming in a pretty seagate package and a manual, it comes drive only wrapped in an antistatic bag and bubblewrap. Personally i always buy oem drives as they are cheaper.

So there's no missing cables or anything?

And I assume I can download the manual online ? ( althought I can't think of a reason I'd need the manual )

I actually just ordered this exact drive from Newegg (arrived 1/2 an hour ago).

You will get the drive, that's it. No cables, manual, etc. If you don't have spare cables that came with your motherboard, etc. you will need to make sure you get some.

OEM does not have any cables at all. OEM just means here is the drive.
You supply the rest. If you do need the manual, I'm sure it is online somewhere
 
I would imagine that even if you needed a cable, the SATA cable would cost less than the difference in price between Retail and OEM so you'd still be saving money (does that make sense, it does in my head so i can explain further if need be).

Theres really no reason to go retail as far as HDs are concerned (unless for some reason, its important to you that the HD comes in the manufacturer's retail box).
