this isnt a cable problem, its a problem with the hdmi hdcp handshaking issues, it cant establish a stable connection when switching resolutions, its happened to a number of brand of tv's here in NA especially older westinghouses, the real solution until a firmware update comes is to turn the tv off and back on or unplug the hdmi cable and plug it back in, hope this helps.
is it only when playing ur ps3 or does it do it even when watching tv, u could try a dif system hooked up through hdmi just to test it
Lower end HDMI cables cannot handle the throughput of 1080i, as its literally twice the resoloution of 720p.hmmm. so i've done what others have been suggesting to remove the ps3 and tv as well as the hdmi cables from the socket and each other respectively since my problem might be cause by static electricity. some said to at least leave it unplugged for 10 mins, i left mine for 2 and a half hours and still no success.
then i thought that most of the people(youtube and google searching) who suffer from this are on 1080i. so i downgraded the res on my ps3 to 720p and voila! no flickering! i guess it doesn't hurt that i play on 720p since HD is HD for me. but what can be the cause of this? faulty HDMI cable?
