HDTV as monitor

Hi,

Just a quick question, I recently invested in a 21 inch Samsung 1080p HDTV. I'm planning on using the TV as a monitor for my Dell Studio 1737 laptop (Win 7 Home, 4gb RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.40GHz, ATI Mobility Radeon HD) through it's HDMI port.

I set everything up and it works a treat, the TV is set as the main display output (with the laptop lid closed alongside), my question is: is it sustainable? Clearly the laptop wouldn't have a HDMI socket is it wasn't intended for use, but my concern is for the long run.

Maybe I'm worrying to much but it's expensive kit and I want it to last as long as possible.

Yes, of course it is sustainable. You aren't doing anything with it that it's not designed to do. That output is intended for any secondary display hardware, be it a monitor, projector, TV, whatever, it will work and it won't harm your system in the slightest
