Hey,
First of all BSOD means blue screen of death, now read my post...
I recently installed windows 7 on a fairly old machine, and im having problems, I get the bsod after awhile. I have two ram slots each with 1 gb in, right now im testing if its the ram slots. I also have a suspicion it could also be my network adapter, again im not sure. if you need my system specs just ask but it would help alot if you could help me.
My first BSOD screens were basic and i was getting errors like "USBPORT.SYS" or "DRIVER_IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and similiar problems now it is a more advanced BSOD and it dumps a system error log with sometimes the size of 2GB! and its minimum is 1.25gb so i have to remove it everytime my computer restarts after bsod. my problem is complicated and now the errors i get like "usbport.sys" are just numbers. my computer just restarts when im using the web and im heavily using it, it is well ventilated, up to date and looked after. HELP
Regards, patrick. :good:
PS - Im abit of a noob so sorry, im also new to this website because this problem started only a few weeks ago.

Either you are having problems with your usb driver of if this is a really old system then you may have to update the bios in order for Windows 7 to be stable. You always want to check your manufacturers website to see about upgrading to vista or windows 7, to see if anything is required to do beforehand.

Bios updated arnt free are they? i took out one of my ram sticks and my computer is fine now BUT it is slow and its nice to have more ram.

Then it sounds like you have bad ram. You can download memtest and burn the image to cd and then boot to it to test your ram.

Bios updates are free from the pc manufacturers website. What brand and model of computer is this?

The ram sticks themselves are fine, i know that for a fact, these are some specs but as you can see the product number is just 0000000 and i dont know why either. i used everest to get the details
System Properties
Manufacturer Packard Bell NEC
Product 00000000000000000000000
Version pb13217801

The specific model number will be listed somewhere on the case like the front or back. I would need that to get specific data on it.

No, it would be the specific model number of packard bell you have. All OEM computers have them listed somewhere on the case.

sorry if im being annoying but there are literally tons of numbers. i see a sticker on the bottom left side on my computers case. which one of the numbers is it?
This is a number thats bold print
X10-60264

No, that would not be it. Look on the back of the case where all the connections are. You should see a sticker with a model number and serial number. Or the model number may be printed on the front of the case.

i dont know if these are helpful

Ok, you have the latest bios installed. They have not provided updated drivers since 2005. Support for your computer is basically nonexistent now. It seems you have a hardware problem with windows 7. I would suggest putting xp back on this machine if you can. And save your windows 7 copy for a new machine.
