Hi guys,
I have just gotten my broadband connection and modem and they work just fine on my laptop, which is brand new.
But my desktop, which is older (2001), has no socket in the back for the ethernet cat5 cable which connects it to the broadband modem -- it only has two line sockets for the phone cable.
I want to ask you whether I can replace the internal desktop modem with a newer one which has an ethernet socket or if there is some kind of adapter available (PCI card?) which could make it possible to use the broadband on the desktop, without me having to buy a new computer
I am not very familiar with the technology, so I would ask you kindly to explain the terms you are using, such as the PCI card I mentioned above, but whose use I only guess.
