No, they are not. Only newer mobo's which support lower voltages will be compatible with the conroe.dark_legacy2006 said:

From what I have read conroes oc amazingly. In some reviews that have been done people have gotten up to a 50% overclock, and they didn't push it as far as it could go. Now that won't be the case for everyone but, I like amd better then intel, but I am even thinking about switching to conroe, because there is nothing from any other company that comes close to conroes performance.DiViDe said:
For cooling either water if you can afford it, or even most zalman heatsinks work well, but then again since conroe runs on lower voltages, they may run quite a bit cooler.
