Help with my first build.

Hello all.

I would like to build a cumputer instead of buying one. I know what I want but lack the knowledge in buying the correct parts and so forth.

I would like to play games and do the normal office work. I have a budget of $1800.00-$2000.00. I would like to have a QuadCore for shure. I all ready have a real high definition flat screen so I would not need one.

My main objective is something that I can overclock for better perfomance. I eventually will give this to my kids and buy a laptop later. I do not know if I should stay with XP Profetional or move on to Vista Ultimate. I know Vista has some issues. I have a copy of XP Profetional with a Upgrade to vista. All I am going to download are videos and music and play games.

If anybody could help me out I would really appreciate it.

I have a question about the Memory and CPU how much can you Over clock them? I ask this becuase I dont want to mess them up?

the CPU with that cooling will get 4.0 GHz mabey higher but im not sure about the memory i would say a fair bit cos it is some of the best memory u can get

why would you want to OC, with that!?

But a very nice build, over all.

oh sh$* sorry i wrote the wrong thing about the CPU i was thinking about a different CPU your one hear will OC to about 3.8GHz an mabey higher

If you're asking this, then overclock, but do NOT alter the voltages at ALL. If you took one step over, remove the little silver CMOS battery, and start all over again.

Have you ever wanted to do something you have never done before? Thats were i'm at, I would like to OC my build just to learn how to do it correctly.

reddevil6: can this motherboard accept upgrades? Like memory, cpu, ect.?
