I'd say go with #1.
Considering you won't be doing that much gaming, it won't really matter what your processing speed is. (Even though the graphics cards you have on both of those are wicked)
If all you'll be doing are basic things, then it won't really make much of a difference to have either the one or the other in terms of processing speed.
So, in the long run, you'll probably want #1; it will last you longer, and you'll have many more options.
Since SP1. If you had 4GB it found 3.5GB and if you had a 2GB you got 1.99GB but after SP1 you can use the 4GB and get it properly displayed on the welcome screen.
I might upgrade to 4 gigs eventually but for now 3 is working well. I've tried to push my laptop with multitasking and gaming and i'm surprised by how well it performs.
