Hello I'm new to these forums and I need some help upgrading my PC as I am not as knowledgeable as most of you here so bare with me. I want to upgrade my Pentium 4 3.0GHz but I'm totally lost as far as what my 775 socket mainboard can handle. I tried installing a Intel Core 2 Quad 9650 and my PC didn't boot up at all. Do I have to do a BIOS flash for the Core 2 Quad to work? Or could it simply be that my mainboard can't handle C2Q?
Specs:
Motherboard: ECS 915G-M, Intel 915G Chipset
CPU: Pentium 4 3.0E GHz w/1MB cache
Hard Drive: 200GB SATA
Memory: 4GB DDR PC3200
If the Core 2 Quad won't work on my MB, can someone tell me which processor I can upgrade to? Thanks
