What's wrong with my computer? I've ran a bunch of virus scans, but I still get tons of popups, error messages, and my computer runs slower than my '94 IBM. The worst part is there's no way for me to get my 700+ pictures off because my comp refuses to burn anything onto my flash drives or cds. :(

any suggestions?

You have some kind of adware or trojan. I have seen this a few times.

You need to run a program called Hijackthis and post the results here for someone to take a look at.

It is a free program that lists all the process's running on your system. Someone here with knowledge can help you out if you post it.

You can download it from the following link, It is freeware, so don't worry about the cost of it.

The last two ones, with the message, "Your computer may be infected..." Ignore them. Sites have them on to try and make you think that you are, they're often virus' themselves. :)

Serenade_Me, What were you doing when you saw that error pop up? What program were you using, or trying to use?

The first error may be related to RAM hardware failure, i have experienced this myself, and the one program to keep crashing prior to my OS failing was internetexplorer, but from what you said your computer is most likly infected to some degree.

thanks for all the responses :)
this thread alone took me over an hour, 3 reboots, and a virus scan to get through. Hahaha

Whenever I get that message it's usually when I x out of ie. And no matter how many times I click okay it doesn't go away .. unless I go into processes and shut it off, but that isnt helping anything.

and I'm gonna run the HijackThis thingy now =]

One way around IE crashing? Don't use it. Use firefox instead!

It is much more stable than IE and has a ton more options to it. Tabbed browsing, plugins and much more.

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

I tend to disagree, i gravly disliked IE6 and was using firefox, when IE7 came out i didn't switch straight away, but i slowly went back to it.

I know a lot of people say firefox is more secure, well it probably is, but if you surf with care and know what you are doing its unlikly your going to come a cropper. but anyway its personal preference at the end of the day

I've heard about firefox being really good, but I never got around to downloading it.
Once I clear this up, I'll definitely give it a try though. It can't hurt. haha

I see your using Norton. If your happy with norton then stick with it but from personal experience and of others, its one of the worst anitvirus that you can buy.

I would highly recommend Kaspersky. excellent piece of software with out the annoyying crap norton gives you.

Firefox is good, but I don't really find any advantages to using it over IE now, Yeah, there were some when IE6 was around, but now there's IE7 I never touch FF. I keep it installed just incase though :p

If you are looking for a new Anti-Virus, then I recomend AVG, although I've heard that Avast is also good. But let's not talk about it, eh, we'll cause some arguments ;)

Have you tried going back to a restore point before you noticed it all happen?

You need to copy and paste the log file from hijackthis here, posting a picture is not very clear and makes it hard to read.

Ditto. IE might be bad, but FF is just as bad with some memory leaks and stuff..

I don't know enough about HJT to help you, so be patient and someone will give you a hand. Be assured someone will help you when they get the time.

The only things I see that are obvious to me are some missing .dll files. But what to fix is beyond me.
