I recently put a computer together and it all worked successfully and it was my first attempt EVER :)
Specs:
nforce 560i
athlaton x2 6000+
160 gb
2gig
rosewill 600w
and a geforce 9800gtx+ :)

only problem is that i cant instal any of the drivers or even windows because i cant see anything... is this a problem with my video card? a friend said i need to plug into the motherboard monitor hook up at first but my VGA cable doesnt fit into the dbs9 MALE plug :((( what do i do help me please!

I'm not real clear on what you said there, so is your monitor plugged into the video card correctly?

my moniter is plugged into the video card but this is the first time that i have started this computer so none of the drivers are installed and there is no windows on it so i dont think the video card would work right?

how do i like boot to download the bios and operating system w/o having my graphix card installed? i cant see anything

You need to give us the motherboard model to know if you have onboard graphics. If you have you can install the card later.

By the way, that is not a graphics port

This is DVI

This is VGA

It seems you have no onboard graphics.

I am wondering if your BIOS settings are correct regarding graphics and PCI slot. Your card should work at its basic settings until you are able to install the drivers for it.

i cant see ANYTHING though... my video card is plugged into my motherboard and the fan and lights on it work which tells me its not broken, but when i plug my monitor into it i get no signal because its not installed on the computer.... and if my mother board has no integrated graphix how do i go about installing the OS or the drivers for the video card....

I know what you are saying, you can't see anything to diagnose it. Alternatives are to try another card, another cable and another monitor or try yours on a friends computer.

i see now what u may mean... i got an old monitor and im using it and everytime i plug it in the monitor goes black and the LED goes from green to orange like its not working right.... but i dont think the graphix card is broken cause all of the LEDs work and the fan is running... is there any way i can change this ?

It's not a drivers issue. When you turn on your computer, does your monitor come out of standby?

I know this may sound stupid, but did you plug in your video card to the power supply?

yes i did, the fan and everything all works and both power supply ports are plugged in... heres what happens...

w/o the stuff plugged in the moniter says no signal.. when i plug it in the message goes away but the LED on the monitor goes from green to orange like on standby... i took the power plugs out and tried it and its the same problem but the fan doesnt work obviously so i shut it off...

Yeah, thats odd. You plugged in both power ports right?
I am thinking it's a dead card, but who knows. It could be your motherboard. Do you have another PCI-E card that you can plug in to check? If not return the video card claiming its DOA.

yes i plugged both in.... i tried an old radeon x300 graphix card in it and it didnt work either... i was thinking that the pci express ports on the mother board could be broken but i dunno because the way my moniter goes on stand by when i plug it into the card shows me its getting somthing from the pci express slot..... i have tried both slots and i get the same result

ive checked 2 different monitors its not the monitor... i could try my graphix card on a crappy dell motherboard... the dell mother board has all of the slots and such as well... pci-e and stuff

Yeah, I am pretty sure it is the motherboard though. If to graphics cards, one known to work, don't work with the motherboard, then it is the motherboard.

im calling ASUS tech support right now to ask them... should i try the graphix card on my dell motherboard? im pretty anxious to use it and it looks like this dell motherboard isnt terribly old and my be able to support my cpu and stuff...
