LCD went Black but I can see the monitor is still working with a flashlight and I want to see the inside without breaking the plastic frame, to see the bulb and to see the inverter.

I want to learn how to open and repair laptops and LCD monitors

normally it will just be a few screws which you have to take out and that is it, you have your openable montor.

As for laptops, they are different. To get inside to components, there is a panel at the bottom held on by screws, this takes you to 1 of the sticks of RAM, hard drive, processor and mobo, also if you take the keyboard off using the little clips that are at the edge of the keyboard, hard to see but they will be there, you can get to the other stick of RAM.

For laptop screens, they aren't like normal monitors, they are much thinner and have nothing going on that you can fiddle with, it is just one flat cable from the screen to the main body of the laptop. You can't repair em unless you are a proffesional, it isn't home fixable, but the screen can be replaced. That again is just a few little screws which are under the little rubber pads around the edge of the laptop screen, take them off and the screws are underneath.

Try googling your Laptop model number.

I was able to find a DIY page opening a 10 year old laptop a few years ago. Wasn't worth fixing the LCD screen financially for that old of a computer - but it walked me through the steps and I broke it down into pieces as best I could.

I wouldn't mess with laptops after that exercise. Not worth the hassel IMHO.

It's a Dell E153FPc

And the only visible screws were on the monitor stand. I removed the stand and now have a simple flat panel LCD without any screws showing. It looks like it was glued together or snaps together with hidden clips.

Even through it not working as a good monitor, I can see the screen still works with a flash light.

Since flat panels are the future, I want to know what makes them work and how to repair them. Bulbs and power inverters should be simple to replace if I can figure out the KEY to open the damn thing.

Thanks for your help.

I got it open!

I figured out how to open the DELL LCD monitor and now I have it apart. Where is the power inverter and where is the bulb, or bulbs?

I took a picture of the back plate of the LCD screen
