how to repair a shorted HDD?

hey people, I have recently shorted my hard drive. i am considering sending it in for warranty, but i was wondering if there was a way to repair it. is there a fuse that just needs replacing or is a shorted drive far from easy to repair. any suggestions?

Aside from some perhaps very odd drives, there is no fuse on a hard drive to protect it. However, if anything blew (fuse or capacitor) it would require soldering to remove and replace. Aside from that, about the only way to fix it would be to replace the entire board.

And if you don't mind me asking, how exactly did you short it out?

i posted up something about it a couple of days earlier.

they wont accept it on warranty as you blew the hard drive, hence making it your fault not a mechnical or manufacturing fault, and even if you lie they may still be able to tell.
you may be able to repair it but it will be probably a bit tricky and time consuming with no gurantee it will work
you may be better off buying a new drive
