Hello All
Even the most simple of spreadsheets will not sort. Some columns will, but never all of them. (Libre calc). I used Excel for years so know what I'm doing (I hope)

Please help
Alan

Actually Couriant, it was not what I wanted, ie get my ascend/descending part working. I won't work, but you sent me this video that taught me something else I wanted, so many thanks to you.

Any other help to sort out my sorting?
Greetings

You'll probably have to describe the behavior more, because to most people the immediate response would be like:

Hello I am going to have to work out what is exactly wrong, so I'll come back to you with exact symptoms (If I can!)

Many thanks so far

Very best
Alan

The easiest option will to reload Libre office to the latest version, this will not affect any data files you have created.
text below may help.

After this you can reset the sort options to automatic.

Calc sometimes re‑sorts because a Sort Range was previously applied and Calc tries to “maintain” it.

Turn that off:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
  1. Select the whole sheet (Ctrl + A).
  2. Go to Data → Sort…
  3. In the Sort window:
    • Make sure “Range contains column labels” is correct.
    • Remove all sort criteria (set them to “None”).
  4. Press OK.

This clears any “persistent” sort rules.
