I have 5G's and I need to build a new computer

I was wondering what the best computer possible you guys could make for 5G's. I've never built a computer before, so any information would be greatly appreciated. I won't be building the computer myself, I am having a friend do it. I would like to make something so nice I wouldn't have to make another one for 3-4 years or so (with minor upgrades). But here is the break down of my needs.

- PC case
Not flashy, just big enough to hold everything in (preferably black and not see-through)
- Power supply
Something at or over 500w
- Motherboard
- Processor
- Memory
- Hard drive
I would like at least 2, one 10,000 and one 7200
- Video card
I am probably going with two
- Sound card
Something that will work nicely with the speakers
- DVD/CD drive (possibly 2-3)
I'm getting that Plextor slot loading DVD/CD RW
- Wireless router/USB network adapter
- Monitor
20" at least
- Mouse/Keyboard
- Speakers
Possibly wireless, black, classy
- Anything extra that I might need

Thanks for the help. And have fun building.

Can you wait for a couple days? The am2 is coming out and then we can build you a really high end computer.

Yeah I have been waiting just for that.

Any other brand new things that I should think about getting or waiting for?

Why did you choose an OPEN BOX hard drive with a 5K budget?
I dont think they sell retail ones of those, not that it really makes a difference.

ANd it's not really an open box, it's just the hard drive.

Don't hack other people's threads.
He didn't, he hijacked it. No hacking was involved. And it wasn't much of a hijack anyway. He asked a related question

And to answer your question, they came out either yesterday or today.....i think....the cpu's are on sale on newegg anyway

You're acting like the AM2 is actually going to bring substantial performance benefits.

If it was considered hacking, A LOT of people would be h4x0rz.

you do realize how much that barly works, right? think about it... if NV5s hardly work in SLI due to their size, imagine the stock coolers on thoes beasts....

1gb dedicated for graphics:D
No, not really. The memory doesn't add together. It individually renders the scenes.
If you really need a computer now, then get it now, otherwise, wait for Conroe.

Define minor upgrades :)

But its worth a few day's wait if you're building a brand new system

1gb dedicated for graphics
You mean 512MB :)

Here's something balanced and without wasting money for wasting money's sake

I don't thiink the fatalaty is worth the money to fork out for it. Just go for the x-fi Platinum. Then again he has the money.

For $50 more than the Platinum, you get the 64MB of RAM which may or may not be useful but certainly gives you a just-in-case buffer.
