I need help!! Virus on Laptop

Rill.scr

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/rkill.scr

This program should disable any active infections that would stop combofix and malwarebytes from runnning. However, do not reboot the computer after running rkill or you'll have to run it again as rebooting will reactivate the infection. Just run rkill and then try running combofix if it won't run the first time.

now do i do the same as the combo fix, just download rill.scr onto the flashdrive and dont install it on this computer? do i save it under a different name too?

I'm sorry, i guess I should have explained better. Yes, its the same as combofix, it doesn't install. You just click and run it as its another stand alone program. It doesn't need to be renamed.

okay so combo-fix wont open the same problem happens with the black pop up screen for a second, and rkill.scr wont open its coming up with an error message that says rkill.scr has encountered a problem and needs to close. then it ask for the whole send error report or dont send options...so now what lol

ohh im an idiot you said dont run it from the flash drive and to transfer it to the desk top, im an idiot! i didnt ruin any chances of this working did i??

sorry for the so quick replies but the same exact thing happens when i transferred them to the desk top as when i tried from the flash drive

You have 3 options. Not being sure how computer savvy you are...

1. Take the hard drive out of the laptop and connect it to a desktop system and scan the drive using a fully updated antivirus program and malwarebytes full scan.

2. Slave the drive to a different system and copy data over and then format and reinstall windows.

3. Take the computer to a repair place and see if they can clean it up.

Yes, it should do. Unless there's some new form of virus that can infect the ROM, you're fine:D

excellent news lol i feel like im such a pain here...i keep sayin one last question too haha...i really appreciate all the help and how everyones so nice...but the cd should come with instructions on what to do right?, and once i fix the computer what anit-virus program do you guys suggest, trend micro? norton? or something else

Yes, you would have to format your drive. Back up any data beforehand.

is there any data that i need to back up or should back up? cause theres nothing really that i want or need on it that is personal

and the cd doesnt reformat it for you does it? i have to reformat it before the cd correct? so how do i figure out if my hard drive is NFTS or FAT32, cause i was told there are two different reformats

At the beginning of the installation, you have to delete the existing partitions and then repartition, then it asks you if you want quick format or full format and what file system you want. You want full format in NTFS. Then it will be formatted and then the actual install will take place.

oh okay so i dont actually have to manually reformat it, the cd will walk me through it, correct? and what do you mean by back up files, like do i have to back up internet explorer and stuff like that or will those still be on the computer after reinstallation, im really sorry for the newb questions
