i7 920 co stepping overclocking (1st attempts)

well i tried for a while to see if i could get 4ghz, i reached 3.9ghz but was unstable and i did not want to give it too much voltage!

i do realise that the co stepping is not the best overclocker next to the do stepping but i did reach a modest 3.8ghz stabble!

i am a overclocking novice so it took me some time, a couple of voltage adjustments (1.26max for cpu 1.65 max for ram)

i wasnt going to go any further than that for sure!

i have now dropped it down to 3.6ghz and benched it some pics.... (1 gpu xfx4890)

i also overclocked the gpu-GPU CLOCK 960mhz MEMORY CLOCK 1100mhz

if you guys have anymore tips or anything let me know thanx

p.s i also noticed that throughout the overclocking process my temps at full load stayed very similar give or take a few degrees...

i belive that it must be something to do with my fan/radiator combination, some radiators work well with mid-low speed fans whilst some do better with high speed fans!

i think i have a nice balance as the max i get is 60c at 3.8ghz under prime95 and i get 55c at 2.6ghz under prime95

Those are great OC's with very low voltage. You could easily use alot more voltage (up to 1.4V) without hurting anything to hit 4ghz. The only thing to watch out for is heat and you are at a very acceptable 60C. Good luck man, with what I see you should be able to get past 4ghz without a problem for benching.
