IBUYPOWER disaster... what now... need a good pc

I just recieved my Ibuypower pc yesterday. It would not turn on or anything. The video card was not tightly on. Fixed that then plugged the PSU 20 pin connector in the mobo and then it turned on for a little and shut right back down.

I called them up and they said to send it back to fix.(And the Customer Service/Tech service sucked... and it took forever). So they sent me a pre-paid fedex ground label. Im thinking Ill just return it for a refund because after 30 days I cant do that.

What do you all think?

Now my next problem is where to go from there. I do not know much about building a pc, and wouldnt mind attempting it but dont want to break anything in the process or anything that ouwld cost me more money.

I do do some gaming and major design with photoshop/fireworks/flash/Dreamweaver and enjoy using my pc as a media center (music and dvds). So the I BUY POWER pc I made was pretty much for that. Is there any pc that I can get from Best Buy that can handle all that and perform as what my working IBUYPOWER would...

Heres what my IBUYPOWER had:

Flash Media Reader/Writer ( 12-In-1 Internal Flash Media Card Reader/Writer Black )
Power Supply ( [$30 Mail-In-Rebate NOW !!!] Ultra X-Connect 500W ATX PS w/2 80mm Fans - Titanium Black(ULT31554) )
Processor ( [Socket-775] Intel® Pentium-4 Processor 630 [3.0GHz, 2MB Cache, 800MHz FSB, 64-Bit + HT Ready] )
Processor Cooling ( Certified CPU Fan and Heatsink )
Operation System ( None- Pre-formatted Hard Drive Only )
Video Card ( [PCI-Express 16x] ATI Radeon X800 256MB w/DVI + TV Out Video )
Hard Drive ( 120 GB HARD DRIVES [S-ATA] Seagate 120 GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache Hard Drive )
CD/DVD Drive ( 16x DVD-ROM Drive Black )
CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive ( NEC ND-3520A Dual Format/Double Layer 16X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive Black )
Sound Card ( Creative Lab Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit 7.1 )

** I just kind of realied maybe I BUYPOWER isnt the way to go after reading pretty many negative reps and thinking a local company such as best buy would be better

Whats the difference between ATI RADEON X300 and ATI RADEON X300 SE PCI-E? (like which is better and what does PCI-E mean?)

Also does the ATI RADEON X300 even come close to what I had on the ibuypower pc X800?

Go to dell.com, they have great pcs and great deals, if you want something faster and don't care about money go to alienware.com. In my opinion, stores are rip offs when it comes to computers, just buy it directly from the company.

there good computers, but the graphics arnt good at all. You should consider building you own computer since you save alot of money, and i would not recommend cyberpowerinc or ibuypower since everyone says there stuff comes damaged (happened to me to with a defective motherboard).

really those are bad graphics cards? Could I upgrade that myself?

I would like to build my own but have no idea how or where to start...

What about Dell? XPS GEn series?

well watever u do, do not buy a computer from best buy, they are way overpriced. the new dell xps gen 5 is nice, or maybe a sony vaio desktop, but not from bestbuy

yea but after reading so many neg. reps of ibuypower and their warranty and such i just dont think so. I bet they will keep the system for almost 20 days then snd it back taking 5 days allwoing me no time to ask for a refund--- as I have read so many other times

Please see my new topic created - I went with the DELL -

Yeah, I got an ibuypower PC, works great. Maybe shipping screwed it up. Just send it back and see what they do with it. Prbly it is a faulty PSU or mobo. Just don't buy from bestbuy, if you are gonna go with another company go with alienware or voodoo, or maybe falcon northwest.

The SE has half the memory bandwidth of the normal

Also does the ATI RADEON X300 even come close to what I had on the ibuypower pc X800?
NOT BY A LONG SHOT. You're comparing a golf cart to a ferarri

@lokodezine:
Whats the budget? (and iintention)

Lol, good one.

But yes, that is true, an X300 and an X800 are basically uncomparable. The X800 owns while the X300 sucks.

no I ordered a dell xps gen 5... It has the 6800... hows that? I know its not as good as my ibuypower one which was a 6800 GT. But will the regular 6800 play COD and Battlefied 2? Or should I upgrade to the 7800 GTX? Mainly I want a card that can play pretty much anything for now and for some time to come, but dont need the top of the top

PCI-E is slot the card goes in. Its short for PCI-Express 16 It's what all the new video cards are being made in. But you have to make sure your motherboard has a PCI-E slot.

cant rely on those mail in rebates, a lot of technicalities and you may never see your money. problem with best buy (or any of those places) is that you not only are paying for the computer from the manufacturer, but now paying for best buy to make a profit. my dad bought a computer form there for like $800 dollars....and then had to buy more memory and a new vid card. not worth it...stick to a comp like dell and deal with them directly...the money you save can be used towards upgrades...and they have a lot of sales all the time....i think the xps from dell is 35% off...i think that goes for any comp over $1000 right now. good luck
