I have never built a computer befor, I have always gone to the local Best Buy or fry's. i AM sick of getting ripped off by the over priced units. What i want to build is a great all around computer that i can use to see movies, listen to music, Play a few games. So i will post below a few things i have been looking at i have not bought any of it yet. Good input would be great
Abit IP35 Pro Motherboard - Intel P35, Socket 775, ATX, Audio, PCI Express, Dual Gigabit LAN, S/PDIF, USB 2.0, eSATA, RAID
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor BX80562Q6600 - 2.40GHz, 8MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB, Kentsfield, Quad-Core, Retail, Socket 775, Processor with Fan
OCZ / GameXStream / 700-Watt / ATX / 120mm Fan / SATA Ready / SLI Ready / EPS / Active PFC / Power Supply
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, ATA-100, EIDE, OEM ( x2 if i want to run RAID )
Philips SPD2413BD Super All-Write DVD Burner - 20x DVD±R Burn, 16x DVD±R Read, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD±R DL, 12x DVD-RAM, 48x32x CD-R/RW, Black
Auzentech HDA Digital X-plosion 7.1 DTS Sound Card
XFX GeForce 8500 GT 512MB Ultra Silent Cooling PCI
Corsair TWINX 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz E.P.P.
Im not sure if i want to run RAID, I hear good and bad about it. Good things i have read that your system can run faster. But on the bad side is if one HD fails the whole system will not work.
Also i was thinking or getting vista 64bit pro. i have used vista a few times and like how it works. also it dosnt hurt to know someone who works for microsoft and gets the OS for 75-90% off retail
any info would be great.
