Intel 3.4 or AMD 3500

I'm building a new computer and they are about the same price. It is going to be a gaming only computer and I'm stuck between these 2 processors. Also, should i just spring the extra hundred bucks for the 3800? THanks for the advice.

get the amd 64 3500 at newegg, the venice core or the winchester

the 3800 is not worth it, benchmarks have proven that the 3500 and 3800 are pretty much the same

AMD, but if you're deciding on either, then maybe you should get that 3800+, or even an FX-53, because that 3.4ghz Pentium probably costs even more than those.

Whats the difference?

Can anyone advice me the difference between AMD and Intel Processor?

Which is better and which is more value for money?

AMD is better for gaming, Intel is better for multi-tasking.

Depends on what specific products/models your looking at and what your using it for.

AMD is always about half the price of Intel, most of the time it performs as well as Intel, and just as much of the time it outperforms Intel. In my opinion, if you multi-task up until the point of running out of your 512mb of RAM, AMD can take it, so they're better all-around processors and A LOT cheaper.

Those 2 arnt even the same operating frequency, the AMD is 1.8Ghz and the Intel is 3Ghz. If your only into gaming, then i can see maybe getting the AMD, but i do a lot of DVD Authoring, and an AMD 3000+ deffinetly doesnt go as fast as the P4 3Ghz.

The 3000+ will never be as fast as 3GHz -- not without overclocking .... also do note that Intel procs are usually better for doing media stuff

There is no Holy Grail. Don't even try to search.

This debate can go on forever, and the same points will carry on being tossed up and down by dfferent users.

Yes, AMD are usually cheaper then Intel
AMD are better for gaming
Intel are better for general working and multi-tasking

There is no finite answer to the topic title "Intel 3.4 or AMD 3500" it depends entirely on the users needs. Thus, no-one can ever say that that AMD are better than Intel or Intel are better than AMD.
