Internet crapping out

So my TWC crapped itself again. Ping spikes in LoL going to 8000. Download speeds at .80 and upload at .01.

Called them up, said there was no issue on their end.

Really upset about all this, does anyone have any solutions.

I have tried resetting both the router and the modem.

Mate, you computer has issues all over it. You have multiple posts about power failures, internet failures etc etc.

Stick to one post. This could all be related and doing multiple trouble shooting can be very very difficult.

what kind of modem stats? Usually you can see at something like http://192.168.100.1

Not sure what it all means but here

Dont recall power failures, but I have switched routers multiple times now. Now im thinking its my adapter.

What connection are you using between your PC and modem? Wireless? Wired?

Do you get these problems when unplugging your router and plugging directly into the modem?

Try getting a wired connection and testing again.

My laptop recently had an issue like this and it ended up being our modem.

Wireless. My computer is pretty far from the modem and router

Test with a wired device originally in order to rule out any unknown sources of interference.

Also, da fuq modem is that? 16 downstream channels is pretty beefy. The SNR looks pretty good so I don't imagine it's a cable specific error and probably more along the lines of wireless issues.

I doubt it's the modem, since its a new Arris one from TWC. After sitting at .8 for about the whole day yesterday, in the evening, my tablet went up to 10 Mbps down, which isn't as good as before, but not all bad.

I'll try my laptop, but its really old

Seems like you just told us what your issue is. You are running off a weak wireless connection.

Hardwire into your router, if you still have issues then hardwire into your modem, just to rule out other components.

I wont be able to do that on a regular basis though...

Problem seems to be fixed now, I didnt do anything though.

Ping hovering at 50, which is fine and about average, with a spike or two a game to a 100 or so.

Sorry to bump this

I did some research into ISPs in our area. Turns out TWC cable is like the only good one. I do believe it is the fastest, but really unreliable when others are using it too. Our entire block has TWC, so at around 5ish, it will give me huge ping, then at 8 in the morning or 9 at night, its perfect.

Also, on good days, I get maybe like 45 MBPS down, but we only pay for 10. Why does this happen?

There is an ISP called Earthlink in our area. They have a 20 Mbps connection availible, but my dad says that they just use TWC lines, so the Internet would be of the same quality. Is this true?

Companies tend to give a set amount of bandwidth to a community. Much like your ping, during off peak times, you'll experience a little "boost" to make you feel better. Though these don't typically last during downloads, they'll sure make you smile. :D

For example, I [my parents) pay for 20 down/5 up (or the like) through Comcast. We receive around 40 down/7 up most of the time until about 6-8pm.. Our neighborhood has a lot of teenage girls. Netflix loves bandwidth. Teenage girls love Netflix, and the rest of us no longer feel boosted. :(

Edit: Some companies (Google Fiber) are class 2 (FCC?) and share infrastructure. They all pay a fee to the original owner (Comcast for Google's reasons) and in return, smaller companies can try and steal money from you. So if it costs less, and you've read the fine print, I'd recommend giving Earthlink a call and seeing how the can link you up (huehuehue)

Called them up today, said they use TWC stuff. After I told them the issue, they said it might be a problem with the cables, and that I should call up TWC, and ask them to check it.

It is cheaper than what we pay for TWC, TWC is 80 bucks a month, of which 50 is Internet, so we may just go to Earthlink. Connection has been pretty stable lately, so Im not complaining.
