iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 will officially be announced tomorrow at 10AM PST, what are your thoughts on what it will or won't have in terms of features or appearance? I really hope they release it using 4G for both Verizon and AT&T, longer battery, larger display, and no more antenna issues!

all this and a few other features I'd imagine

who's gonna do the keynote?

It is talk of Tim Cook going to be announcing items in tomorrows 'keynote'.

Does anyone have creditable links that confirms and proves that apple will announce the Iphone5 (or whatever they are calling it)? I have yet to actually fine a creditable source. Gizmodo and Wired both claim that it is confirmed that Apple will announce the new iphone, but don't give any reasonable source or where they got this information. Gizmodo on icy waters with Apple, i don't classify them as creditable with Apple news. And Wired doesn't give where they got the information. I know it is confirmed that they are holding a meeting and all, but no actual proof that the Iphone will be the talk of the day.

Unless you guys have found sites that actually go into proving that they will be talking about it.

activity in Apple's supply chain shows evidence of iPhone 5 production, and historically Apple has announced new models around this timeframe. it will be announced tomorrow.

Hmm just remember the Iphone4 Being announced in April's keynote. As well as the Iphone 3GS. And as for activity in supply chain, there was also talk about 'pay as you go' (affordable) phone being produced, so this could be the reason.

Not trying to knock it down, cause i want to see the phone just as much as anyone, just don't see any evidence that would confirm it.

Mike, you're crazy.

and yeah, this would be the latest announcement for an iphone. according to the wikipedia entry, most of the models were released (or made available) around the june/july timeframe.

Lol, ya i am crazy

And yes, they announced the phones in April for June/July release. It has always been this way.

None of this proves that they WON'T announce it, it just doesn't prove that they WILL.

Sure hope they do, and hopefully revamped the Iphone all together. Making it one hell of a phone. (Apple is behind in times).

You know, the topic of this thread is what features you would like/hope to see in the iphone 5 announcement and not so much if the announcement is actually happening.

I really just want to see something different. The past 4 generations have been a lot of the same things, with little things here and there and a slightly different shape.

The iphone was innovative when it came out, but it's time for apple to be innovative again.

Agreed and appologize for my uneducated mind for travelling off topic just by reading the first sentence.

I really do wish Apple will impliment all of which are in other phones today (such as dual processors, larger amounts of memory (RAM), longer battery life, less restrictions (on what can actually be done with the phone, in which Apple is improving on), I like the Iphone 4 shape (phone i am using right now) so would like to see it kept, antenna improved,) plus take the iphone to the next level. Not nessesarly larger screen, 3D implimentation (already introduced) plus some unknown feature that i cannot think of lol.

Basically i would like to see Apple catch back up with the smartphone industry plus introduce new technology. I love new technology. It makes me happy :D.

Ive been waiting for the phone to come out for a while now because my 3g is busted in every way.... I have ATT and I bet it will still be 3g... It will most likely be thinner like the 3g with a larger , crisper display.

Im hoping the lower gig model is 199... im not paying 300 for a phone, thats mental

I agree with a lot you said there.. I hope there is a decent processor and more RAM so I wont have to buy a new phone for a few years.... Im not a fan of Apple at all, but I do like their Iphones

I can't imagine we'll see anything too mind blowing. Apple likes to pace their upgrades, so I'm pretty sure this time around we're not going to see anything other than 4G and marginal upgrades in the screen, CPU, RAM, camera, etc.

The new OS looks like it might have some neat features though.

$300 is cheap... compared to the $600-$700 for the phone retail!

Software wise it is suppose to top android and ofcourse Windows mobile, but I really do not care about software cause there is a app for that. Were my issue is are they going to fix the design flaws like the glass back that I probably have seen 100's broken within the first year it came out which is a lot cause I don't really see many iphone users compared to the amount of android. Or what about the signal issues they experienced, from what it seemed to me the two main issues I named Apple did no product testing on it at all cause these were problems seen in the first few weeks.

As for the 4G I doubt it will get it for the fact that there are still cities that do not have 4G so Apple knows they can continue to rip off there consumer with lower cost 3G chips and charge you the new prices.

from various sites like MacRumors these are pretty much definite:

A5 processor like in the iPad2
1gb of RAM
8 megapixel camera

I'm hoping for a bigger screen like in the HTC phones.

I seriously doubt 4g will be included. As mentioned, not all cities support it, and Apple has never embraced newer data technologies. Remember the first iPhone was using edge, even though 3g was available.

I'm willing to bet money on:
A5 dual core
8MP camera
Either the same screen as the iPhone 4 or a slightly bigger version of it at the same resolution
slightly thinner
redesigned backplate and antenna

That seems to fall in line with how Apple upgrades the phone.
Reasons:
A5 is obvious, every iphone released had a processor upgrade.
8mp camera, also obvious although they could stick with the same 5mp so they can upgrade it on a later model.
As for a new, better screen, highly doubtful. They just upgraded the screen for the first time in the iPhone 4, it is not in their best interest to introduce a new screen so soon after it.
Thinner, for obvious "It's thinner than last year's" reasons
The backplate has to be changed again. It has to be noticeable that you have the new one, so owners of the old one will feel the need to upgrade when they see someone using the new one.
Antenna, well, to fix their blunder with the last phone. Apple may not publicly admit it's made a mistake, but it is smart enough to change it. For example, the previous generation buttonless shuffle.

Actually, it is expected they will release a iPhone 4s tomorrow. Mention of it has been found in iTunes beta 9, which has since been pulled. It will simply be minor hardware upgrades. But the iPhone 5 should be soon to follow.

Oh, and iPod classics and shuffles are expected to be discontinued, and iOS 5 is to be demoed. I am following the keynote through either ifans or 9to5mac.

Also, the iPhone 4s won't have 4G, but the 5 will. There has also been speculation the 4s will be verizon and att, and the i5 will be sprint exclusive, but I think that is BS.

doubt iphone 5 will have 4G, it is not in all cities so they do not want to have a 4G product were as in some cities there people cannot use it. Plus I doubt that sprint will get anything better cause if I remember right doesn't at&t get the new products first and then doesn't it trickle down to the other carriers.
