is this a good buy?

What are you using it for?

Not that good of a deal. If you need it just for a better card than integrated, its good, but its not gonna play any demanding games.

You will get a incredibly small performance boost over your 3570k's Intel HD 4000, if any. You wont be getting to play any more games than your HD 4000 either. Also, its not even a good deal anyways, you actually are overpaying by $5. If you want pretty reasonable gaming performance for $100 and under: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127606
or, not as reliable, but fine, and good gaming performance: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?InvtId=ENGTX460-PCIE-1024-CO
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=7120468000G-2-BULK $60
Not the best idea to get this card, but its fine.

AWESOME price for this card, not the best by any means, but it willl play many games.

You can get the refurbished gts450 with ddr5 memory for $90 The X2 3850 is a power hog and is not worth it. The gtx 460 is good, but the 9800gt is outdated. How is the gtx460 not reliable? Its better than the gts450!

I am not using it for anything at this moment... just trying to add something to my first build desktop. By the way I want to have a decent computer which I can listen to music, watch video online..

the integrated hd4000 should be more than enough for any of that, anything under gaming and 3d graphic design will easily be done by the hd4000. If you still want the graphics card, what is your power supply?

You don't know what you are talking about.
I just spent over 4 weeks, 24/7 Folding with a GTX 460 overclocked to the max and I did not have a single problem with it.
Folding makes a gpu work harder than gaming does.

The brand is not as realiable. Also, just stck with the hd 4000 if on a budget, or get a 9800 GT for some nice performance for $40. Also, motherboard and PSU?

So, you are saying that Asus makes a crappy gpu?
I didn't find many complaints in a Google.
The model # indicates it's an Asus.

Have you ever owned one or what is the source of your info?

Errr... Didnt know it was a asus, also source: A few members from here at CF (notabbly, wolfeking), that is the 2nd time somebody has said its bad, than said its good (Crucial ram)

Someone on here before said that the unbranded ones are the factory direct ones that Nvidia sends out to the 3rd party developers who then put their stickers on it, and later change the cooler or overclock it or whatever.

/me owns a ASUS GTX460 and its oced 150mhz over...at 6000feet....and has crucial ddr3 1333 ram...no issues in either.

Its when you get those ba$tard timings your asking for trouble with anything from ram..i tend to avoid that stuff, keep in spec and your ok 90 percent of the time.

What are your speakers, and how much music will you be listening to? You are not anwsering our questions, so we cant help you.
Qestion 1. What motherboard do you have?
Q2. Will you be doing anything graphics intesive, CAD, Video games?
Q3. What speakers do you have, and how much music do you listen to? (This will help us pick a sound card).

Good.
1. How much did those speakers cost, does it include a Sub, and how many speakers?
2. It sounds like you dont Game, so just use the intergrated HD 4000 on the i5, they are plenty powerful to stream 1080p video. Just plug the CPU in the mobo, no graphics card required. Plug the monitor into the back of the motherboard.

a grid computing project where science programs at colleges or other institutions have you run their tests for them on your cpu's vs running it on their own hardware, clients are usually a folding@home client of some sort.
