Is this a good CPU fan?

check out the big typhoon from thermal take :D:D:D: or the blue orb my honest opinion unless you are SUPER overclocking most of the heatsinks out there are the same

you can only dissipate so much heat from a processor with air so these 80 90 dolalr heatsinks arent even worth it

my 40 dollar bg typhoon works JSUT as well overclockign as say a v10 (which my neighbor has jsut gotten) they lowered temps from our 5200s pretty much equally he had a 50 mhyz higher overclock then me and got the same temps

so in my opinion jsut get somethign that will fit and lowers temps by about 10 or 15 degrees thats about as good as you will get

btw his house uses a/c mine does not (poor bitch :P ) lol

Not true, you want the lowest temps you can get when overclocking, and the V10 is useless unless you have a quad core, as the tec doenst kick in until it gets a high enough thermal load. Besides, the xigmatek S1283 is one of the top 5 heatsinks, and is only ~$30, making it a very low cost heatsink also.

I don't overclock and my cpu temps can go to 80 C lol
I'll take any good fan no matter the price lol : P

LOL
and ok did not try the v10 on a quiad core i might convince him to let me try it out on my new phenom
but agreed the xigmatek looks like an excellent fan just mount a high pressue 120 facing out of the case and itll work wonders

Yup, and like i said earlier... a high pressure fan isnt required, if you google around you will see that even people who put an ultra kaze(133cfm, as loud as a vacuum cleaner almost) on their xigmatek only noticed 2-3c drop in temp.... imo not worth it for 2c, id save my money towards other upgrades lol, and if there was a way you could enable the tec on teh V10 while using a lower heat load like a dual core amd cpu then you would notice some pretty significant drops in temperature.
