Is this a good CPU fan?

Eh, it's decent, but way overpriced. You can pick up something a lot better for that price. If you like the orb design, look into the Zalman 8700. If you want a tower cooler, look into the Tuniq Tower and Xigmatek HDT-S1283.

Yes this is a good heatsink i have it installed on my thermaltake DH102 case. It is also very easy to install.
But here is something i highly reccomend. Thermaltake V1 max from the following link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106102 . The only reason why i didn't buy the V1 is because is my case is very very small and it won't fit.

The thermaltake maxorb is built from aluminum and thermaltake V1 is built from copper. Now as it is know for engineers, copper has a better thermal conductivity than aluminum. Copper's thermal conductivity is 401 W/m*k while aluminum's 237 W/m*k. In other words, copper based heatsink will cool your processor faster than aluminum based heatsink. Let me know if anything is not clear to you.

Best,
Khalid

The ThermalRight Extreme 120 is an amazing cooler. Here is the bracket for 939 : http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=24253&vpn=BTK-S939 BKT&manufacture=Thermalright

And here is the Cooler itself : http://www.ncix.com/products/index....775BP&manufacture=Thermalright#Specifications

The best fan to place on a heatsink like that is a Sythe Ultra Kaze. I bought this one my self : http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26743&vpn=DFS123812-2000&manufacture=Scythe

I have a ThermalRight and it keeps my processor super cool even at high OC's .

Xigmatek S1283 out performs it and costs so much less.

Then buy the crossbow attachment to avoid the pushpins.

Unless your using a mini-ATX case...then it wont fit with the side on.
make that 3 votes for the xigmatek. Very nice to install and use and very nice performance

yeah that's great but too costy.

if its too costy then you might as well stick with the stock heatsink, because actually this is one of the cheapest heatsinks on the market, while being in the top 5 heatsinks, performance wise.

actually i just realized you were responding to the OP, in which case your actually right lol. but the first bit of my post still stands lol

24dbA is pretty quiet for moving 86+ CFM so I would say "YES" for cooling the CPU. I take it you also have at least 1 case fan of similar velocity to dissipate the heat out of the case.

Those specs are pretty much BS. There's no way a fan moving 86+ CFM of air can operate at 24dBa, fans are usually jet engines at that speed.

yeah, the san ace's in my signature push 106+ cfm, but they're also 39 db, and 38 mm thick, so i think the ratings are bs, like diduknowthat said

Well...I just had to google "jet engines".

The volumes I've found were anywhere between 3500-35000CFM.

I have looked at CPU fans on other sites beside newegg and tiger and they boast the same, ~35 - 90CFM. I agree that sounds like a lot but can they ALL be wrong?

Lol, jet engines is just an expression to say they are loud as heck. The xigmatek cooler has a slightly lower cfm than what it says, it seems as they are more like ~70cfm but they arent very loud, i have mine modded with a 100cfm fan and i noticed a ~1c drop in temp, so as long as the fan pushes a decent amount of air the xigmatek produces great results;)
