Is this combination good for a Desktop Pc?

if you want to stay in warranty spec for the amd processors, dont get 1600 speed ram, get 1333, to me the diff in performance is...not worth voiding warranty. highest rated speed for the memory controller according to amd is 1333.

I just did a bit of thinking about this and i am just wondering how exactly AMD would know you overclokced for ddr3 or whatever reason as information is stored within the bios and or software ocing, so how would they know unless you told them you oced it?

Of course it goes without saying that if you meliting the cpu or soemthing then it would be obvious lol

Concerning what your friend has said about AMD dual-cores getting hung a lot I would guess he has an older AMD dual-core processor and not an Athlon II generation processor. The Athlon II generation of processors combined with DDR3 RAM are much faster than the older first generation Athlon processors. Phenom II processors are even better than Athlon II processors because they have more memory.

The Phenom II 945 Quad-Core Processor is a great choice to put at the heart of a system.

Concerning what memory you should buy I would look at DDR3 1600. Do not worry about latency and timings. Just look at 4 gigabytes of the following brands of memory and you should be okay:

A-Data
Corsair
G.Skill
Kingston
PNY
pqi
Super Talent

What power supply are you going to use with this system?

You guessed it right:good:. I just called him to ask and he said he bought them 1 year ago and he uses them with Asus Mother board.I am seriously not a fan of Asus as I am using it right now.

After you guys helped me out I have my eye on the Phenom Quad core and 4 gb of Corsair 1600. But as I read below replies, it comes to my notice that the 1600 speed of the ram will void the AMD processor warranty:eek:. I never guessed it in my dreams that such a case might be. What should I do, go for the 1600 Mhz or the 1333 Mhz 4 gb ram?

Power supply I havent thought about it as I am busy in the processor and ram. You have any sugession on that.. I have known that power supply can reduce the life of electronics, and one should be careful with it. Is that true?.. I had read this a long time ago some where on the internet.

Oh! and I got a guy who is selling his Phenom x6 1090 T. He says he got it in july 2010 for some where around $ 300.He asked me $160. I checked the latest price for it and found out its $205. original price came down 100 dollars less in 6 to 7 months:eek: What is this processor not good or what?. The guy said he wants to buy a phenom x4 instead! Now how is that he wants to take a back leep. That concerns me if I should by it.

Its been like, am I destined for the best processor or what. It started with athlon and then phenom 4 and now this phenom 6 wants to get on my board:D (but a used one)..lol

will the 1600 overheat the processor?.
I did not know this case was there.

Your logical thinking did give me a sigh of relief;)
But I am dangling between the 1600 or 1333 ram
