John I need you: Error When booting

So I turned on my computer today and after a very long booting up a message popped up.

"Failed to connect to a windows service.
Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system. As an adminitrative user you can review the System Even Log for details about why the service did not respond"

I tried reviewing the log, but nothing is in it. Not only the long boot up and shutdown times, but it has me in classic view (which I can't remember how to change).

I tried looking this up through Google. I tried the "netsh winsock reset" thing, didn't work. I tried the "services" disabling "Presentation Font Cache" didn't work.

I tried a virus scan, nothing showed up.

I tried Malware Bytes : no threats showed up.

System:
In sig ; Windows 7 (64bit) Home Premium (SP1) ; Antivirus: Bitdefender.

HelP?

Have you tried to do a full scan of a registry? Maybe there is something wrong with some entries there.

Do you have "System Event Notification Service" set to "Automatic" under your "Startup type" tab in your "Services"?

Yes and yes.

I did a full scan of the registry and nothing came back.
I actually did find the system even log last night. When I get home I'll post the latest error.

just a shot in the dark here but can you run check disk in repair mode?

Windows key + R

CMD

chkdsk /r

Schedule it for the next reboot.

Do you mean safe mode?

As far as i know you cannot run chkdsk while your system is running. If you want to perform this operation, you should perform it before windows loads.

It wouldn't run in safe mode either. It won't run when the C: drive is mounted. It will throw an error that will ask you if you want to schedule it for the next reboot

Here is what the output looks like on mine

PHP:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) n

enter "yes" and reboot

It's just easier than booting an admin prompt from a Windows install disk.

If anyone is wondering....

I just received a windows update, it seemed to fix everything. Now all good. Which is good because I was just getting ready to do a reformat.

If you have this problem, suggest maybe trying a new Windows update. Something that I didn't try.
