Hi, I'm not sure the problem with my laptop but wasn't sure where to post.
I used to have so many problems with my laptop that the repair guy at my Uni said to restore to factory settings. I did, and all was great, except.. My laptop will turn off randomly. I thought this was connected to the other problems but they all got fixed when I restored it.. I don't think it can be a software problem since it had the problem right from when I restored it, plus it just feels like a hardware thing.. somehow.
Now I can understand it overheating and shutting down. It usually does so when I have too many tabs open or whatever, I can hear it whirring away extra-hard and that's kinda my fault. The thing I want to fix is the other times.
Basically when I turn on my laptop or open the lid (when it has been on standby) it whirrs a lot for about 10 seconds and then shuts off. I can tell when its going to happen by the way it whirrs. It used to happen only sometimes but now happens pretty much every time I turn it on or resume, but only if it has been off or on standby for a while. When it turns off I just turn it on again and its fine. It asks me if I wanna do some check since it shut down incorrectly but that never works so I just do start up normally and its fine. So.. I mean its not a massive issue but I just don't feel it is healthy for my little lappytopkins. Is it damaging it every time this happens (i.e. every time I turn it on?)
Could it be the battery? Like, maybe it isn't storing the power and needs a few seconds of prechargingness, which is why there is no problem if its been on recently or after it shuts off the first time.. But then, would that account for the whirring? I thought maybe the fan got fluff in so I opened it and cleaned it. It did have fluff in but I think I cleaned it quite well and the problem remains (although this might stop it being so hot and shutting down from too much tabs?). Or is the whirring not the fan and the harddrive spinning? Does the harddrive spin? Sooo confused...
