So far over 6 months with only around 4 shutdowns longer than an hour. No problems here.
you guys are acting like these things could only happen when your not home.
a surge and power outage can happen even when its sunny out, and even when your at home on the pc and its sunny out. thats what surge protectors are for, if you have a pc and don't have it on one your just asking for trouble. you can also get a lightnbing strike when your home. it wont only happen when your away.
if its going to happen, it'll happen. it doesn't matter what the weather is, it doesen't matter if your not home.
even if your home and lightning strikes, or theres a surge, or your hard drive crashes or cpu overheats and breaks. being at home wont make the damage magicly go away, your pc will still be screwed.
and tft, if lightning strikes your antennea when your not home do you really think having it or your pc unplugged will help? the 10 million volt spark of lightning just travelled tens of thousands of feet to get to your antennea. it'll easily jump from that wire to your houses wiring and fry every device in the house. it'll also probably overload the antennea wire and any other wires causing many fires to start inside the walls of the house. then, with you not being home, you could loose the pc anyway.
but, it probably wouldn't strike the antennea unless its the tallest thing in mile radius. lighting strikes the closest thing the sky, which could easily be a tree.
