Mac or PC? Which to Buy..

This makes sense.

I'd probably spend money on a Mac book and see what Pro Tools is like... on a Mac platform.

Why would 99% of the world's computer using populous wish to overclock? The enthusiast market is tiny compared to the normal one and giving the mass market access to a key area of a computer has never been and never will be a good idea. Apple locking it down - whilst it may not be to everyone's taste - is the best idea to ensure the sanity of support staff.

All the software I use on my PC; Steam, WoW, FF etc works natively on OSX and I can guarantee that most users don't need to stray beyond iLife and iWork with only specialists really getting down tot he nitty gritty. It's just Windows has been developed in a way as to keep the market its had for a long time now happy whereas Apple has had a chance to play around and make its product adapt more. The driver model (i.e. no need to wait for a mouse to work when you plug it in) for instance is excellent.
