Dear Forum,
OK, here we have MAC OS X Tiger, a UNIX Based open (scriptable) operating system. I have recently made the change to Mac and enjoy its one-button plug and play simplicity, sophisticated password protected core which I hear protects spyware trojans and the like from self-installing, no registry files all over the place.
However, I miss certain applications only available for Windows pc, even though some of my Indian or Pakistani friends seem very capable in hacking Windows for some reason.
My question is: I read somewhere that the original Windows 3.11 release back in the day was actually a temporary one, whilst Microsoft was working on a more sophisticated OS to be released. However, Windows took off so much that they standardised it.
So what is the OS Microsoft was making? Is it any of the enterprise OSs that Microsoft sells to businesses, like Windows CE or those OSs inside bank machines for example?
More importantly, could they not gradually bridge the gap through Windows upgrades and eventually offer the planned robust system, comparable to Mac OS for example? Can they not even plan the basic operation of password request for most installations just like Mac, thus avoiding malicious code self-installations?
Thanks guys.
