Major Vista problem need help ASAP!!!

Okay yesterday night i bought the computer witch is in my sig. Bring iot home set up everything, Checked Vista experince index its 1.0?? (because of graphics) I thought that the 8600GT was a good card. So i installed the drivers for it and vista is saying i dont even have a 8600GT when i can see it in my computer RIGHT NOW. Anyways i tried to instal steam and counter-strike source. It wont start it just says Preparing to launch counter-strike and it just doesn't launch it. It come up in WTM in procceses for liek half a sec and then disappears?? Please i need help i am willing to go get XP just need to play CS:S

if you dont have all the graphic seetings turned on you wont get a good reading either like vista areo

start-control panel-apearance and personalization-personalization-click areo and then apply and make sure you arnt running any programs when you do it like games aim or ne thing when you do it

The first thing you need to do is get the drivers loaded for your video card. You know for sure that it has a 8600GT and if so are you sure you werent trying to load the drivers for the 7600GT?
