Malwarebytes

The free version is an on demand scanner only. The paid version will actively scan your system at bootup.

No I only run free programs. I have free malwarbytes but I'm trying out the free version of bit defender antivirus.

do you have an antivirus on your pc now?i got mbam back when it was $20 for life so i kept it.if you do have an existing av you could always just use the free version of mbam for periodic scanning.

The real time scanner for Malwarebytes is good. Unfortunately they no longer offer lifetime licenses like @aldan has but the subscription fee isn't too high.

Windows security (previously Microsoft Windows defender) running under windows 10 is perfectly adequate for the average user, and then use the free version of MBAM for the occasional scan which I uninstall afterwards.

I was ready to purchase the paid version but changed my mind. The free version says that it compliments one's existing anti virus and that the paid version replaces one's existing anti virus. I have McAfee and am not looking to replace it, so then why would I purchase Malwarebytes and not just keep the free version ? I have had McAfee ever since I have owned a computer.

I read that the free version does not interfere with McAfee , whereas the paid premium version does. I have the trial premium version and it doesn't seem to be in conflict with McAfee. Does this mean that it won't be in conflict if I purchase it ?

You can't have 2 active scanners installed at the same time.
So what is happening now in my computer ? Is one scanner overriding the other one ? I just have the free trial version for Malwarebytes installed now. It will expire in a couple of days time and I'll just leave the free version and not purchase the paid version to avoid conflict with McAfee.
