Media custom build

I want to build my first PC, i know enough about the parts and all but i dont want to get caught up in any overkill for what i want to do so i figured id come hear and ask smarter people then myself.

Essentially i want to build a media center PC/storage PC, emphasis on the storage part. I would like to use as many hard drives as possible with as much space on them as possible, i've herd WD just came out with a 10tb helium HDD. but im a sceptic to new Tech and wouldn't want to get in to anything that may fail after short periods, so reliability is KEY. I know this is the part that some chime in and say NO hard drive is 100% reliable but granted some are better then others as far as performance and life expectancy

The PC also needs to have a fare amount of RAM, as the program i use winds up using more and more memory the more files i add to it and i want it to always run smooth, DDR4? 8Gs? 16Gs? 64Gs? if its possible?

I was thinking i would run the main Drive as an SDD as ive herd they are faster, and running things would come from the main drive anyway, the storage drives just hold media videos and music so i dont see a problem running HDD.

i want this all to run nice and cool with a long life expectancy. graphics cards beyond something that can handle a nice 1080p video are unnecessary
any thoughts on a build you would go after knowing this info? I assume i need a motherboard with a few PCI slots to handle the extra SATA cables for 8 to 10 HDDs so thats a must to, as for processor again i dont think i need anything super powerful to keep up but maybe im wrong you guys tell me.

first off, any software that uses more memory for more files is shitty software. A media server should need decent hard drives, but everything else can be junk. You're not running 3d games. 1080i is pretty easy compared to 4k. You also dont need an SSD. If its a video server, your going to be axcxeceing the files that wont fit on the ssd. So they will be slower anyway.

to give you advice, we need more info about the build.

Will it be hooked directly to a tv? Will it just be there so files can be accesed by other files on network? If your just providing network access you could just get network attached storage and not bother with a computer

You also prob want to use a raid of hard drives. If using a raid 5 you can get high read speeds and redundancy. Im not sure how much video you have, but a few 2 tb drives in raid 5 should be more then enough

OK sorry i have not had the chance to get back till now.
Budget is not a problem. obviously rocking 8 to 10 drives im going to spend a bit.

Will it be hooked directly to a tv?
Yes an HD TV

Will it just be there so files can be accesed by other files on network?
No it will act as a Media player for the TV only, it need limited Internet as well no networking is required.

2 TB is far from enough, i have 8TBs, of Extern storage as is and need to buy more.
im a videographer and keep tons and tons of data, and some times im forced to choose what to ditch for more storage, i cant have that anymore.
which is why i was asking about the new 10tb HDDS and such or if its to risky and maybe use 4 or 6Tbs instead. can i run 10 HDDS in a PC, whats the likelihood of 10, 10tb HDDS so on.

Most I recommend is like 6 6 TB WD reds.

But good luck finding a small case with that much storage room.

Also, 8 gigs of RAM is plenty, 16 if you render photos or animations

im not worried about the size of the case I've seen Huge casings that claim 10 or more spots for HDDs, i kinda like the idea of big
