They have decided to not bring the start menu back in update 2. 8.1 has flopped as like every other OS Microsoft has made.
Starting with win 95
95 - bad
98 - good
ME - bad
XP - good
Vista - bad
7 - good
8 - bad
This would mean that windows 9 should be good. Unfortunately with end of sales for windows 7 coming in October, that will leave a good 6 months or so before the release of Windows 9 due in spring of 2015.
