win xp pro sp1+2, 300gb sata, 1gb ddr ram....4.0ghz processor..........will a 680 watt power supply be more then enough to run the system with a bit more should i attempt to "expand" it?........thanks!

There is no 4GHz processor, so it's hard to know what your specs really are seeing as some processors can take a good bit more power than others. Regardless, you should have more than enough assuming it's a "good* 680 watt PSU. This means it probably has more than one rail and 30+ amps total on the 12v rail(s)

...the 4.0" iis as a result of a VERY mild o.c......the current on the 12v rails are 39 amps...

What 680W power supply, and what video card(s) are you using? It sounds like it should be quite sufficient, though.

...just thought of a follow-up question....

....what usually blows up in a power supply?...transistor regulators, power diodes?...etc...anyone ever fix their own?...thanks!
