Hey guise so I recently became interested in a building my own computer for all around purposes (gaming, work, etc). I was wondering if my matchup would work:

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K Processor

Mobo: ASUS Intel Z77 ATX DDR3 2400 LGA 1155 Motherboard P8Z77-V

Psu: Corsair HX Professional Series 750-Watt 80 Plus Certified Power Supply Compatible with Core i7 and Core i5 - CMPSU-750HX

Hard drive: Western digital Scorpio Black 500 GB SATA 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM 2.5" Mobile Hard Drive (WD5000BPKT)

Os: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit (Full) System Builder DVD 1 Pack

Disk drive: Lite-On LightScribe 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive IHAS424-98 - Retail (Black)

Video card: EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti FPB 1024 MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 2DVI/Mini-HDMI SLI Ready Graphics Card, 01G-P3-1556-KR

Ram: Kingston Technology HyperX 8 GB (2x4 GB Modules) 1600 MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Kit (PC3 12800) 240-Pin SDRAM KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX

Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 Mid Tower Case with USB 3.0 (RC-922M-KKN3-GP)

If any of you pros out there have better suggestions or tweaks for my setup, im all ears. The total cost for this is about $1200 and i would like to keep my budget as such. Feedback is much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Nice build you've put together! Only thing that I can see is the ram. The RAM isn't bad but I think something like this would be better :).

nice build, ram is ok too :P
But maybe you should spend a little bit more for your gpu and your hdd.
500gb is not that big.
where do you live? I'm selling my hd6870...

Go for a 7200 RPM Seagate Barracuda 1TB drive with 64MB of cache such as this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840 where are you buying these parts from?

750W is complete overkill for a 550 Ti, a Corsair CX 600 would be fine, On that note, don't go for the 550 Ti, go for a Radeon HD 6850 or now that you have saved money on the power supply, go for a 6870.

HyperX RAM is fine, leave it.

I'd say an i5 2500K or a 3570K would be fine. For gaming there isn't much difference between the 2500K/3570K and the i7 2600K. What kind of work do you do though? If it's CAD or video editing or something, then yeah a 2600K would be good choice.

The rest looks fine.

Thank you all for the fast replies and thanks again for the feedback. I'm glad I managed to pull a decent working computer together lol

I would definitely consider swapping the ram for the one you mentioned if there was a reason to. Is there a difference between these 2 rams and how would it affect the outcome of my build?

I live in the Los Angeles area and am definitely interested in your video card if I could pick it up locally. I think I'm going to used the hdd that vistakid mentioned over the one I originally picked.

I am buying all these parts online. The type of work that this computer would be used for is primarily just school and office work like papers and documents etc. nothing fancy. What do you recommend my psu wattage should be for this particular build? I think I'm gonna go with the i5 3570k instead of the i7 then.

A 3570K would be fine. 600W would be enough for this system, but go for a unit from Corsair, Seasonic, XFX, OCZ, Antec, PC P&C or NZXT. Don't buy cheap generic power supplies, they have a tendency to die and take the rest of your system with it potentially.

Ok, I decided on the Corsair Enthusiast Series 650-Watt 80 Plus Bronze Certified Power Supply Compatible with Intel Core i3, i5, i7 and AMD platforms - CMPSU-650TXV2 for my psu. also for my hard drive I was thinking of sticking to western digital because of reviews And I was wondering if that would work.

Yeah, drop the CPU down and use the extra money on a 6870.

And go for 1600mhz RAM at 1.5v and 9 latency.

Um sorry I have no idea what the 2nd part of what you said means.

Let me know if this updated build will work:
