My Allendale OverClock...

I wouldn't think so. Alot of fast DDR2-800 RAM runs at 2.1V stock.

Ok. :) It's Corsair XMS2 memory, so it's designed to be overclocked (I would imagine so anyway...).

you do realize that you DONT need to raise voltage at all. i didnt raise voltage on my x2 3800+ and i got it a full 400mhz overclocked. if people are getting those procs to 3.4ghz on default voltage, then you can hit 3ghz on default voltage easily. adding voltage is the worst thing for your cpu, so don't do it unless you need to.

also, try playing around with the memory timings. ill bet you can save yourself from bothering with any voltage settings if you loosen up one or two timings. my defaults are ddr433 2-3-2-6 and i cant overclock barely at all with voltage... but i changed the timings to 3-3-2-5 and i got the stuff to ddr520. crazy i know but i probably added a fifth of my original performance.

most people are hitting at least 3.4ghz with that proc, some getting 3.8ghz and 4ghz depending on the cpu stepping... and no not the intel stepping. anyways, try booting the computer with the same settings, only stock voltage... then, if it boots... stress test. dual prime95 should do it... make sure you do memtest86 as well, after your satisfied that the cpu is stable.

again, you dont need overvoltage in order to have an overclock. i suggest you do not overvolt because thats what kills cpu's... read oc101 before you start overclocking at all.. you'll note that you only overvolt if "hardware doesn't cooperate" as the section suggests... "what to do when hardware doesn't cooperate"

The new Intel's are definitely great over clockers but success rates vary considerably.

Here's the results of a friend in another forum. I think that he is hitting the upper range for that chip.

Thanks for the tips. I have put my RAM timings to 5 5 5 15 and it's running pretty stable at the minute. I am still yet to do stress tests, but I'll do those once I figure out how much of an overclock I can get.

Check this out guys:

yea dude... thats some really good overclocking. i think i might buy the e6600 just because im selling my computer for $900 and i'll have plenty of money on hand.. im keeping the 7900gtx by the way.

Very, very nice. Looks like your gonna be hitting a wall with the FSB though...

I found this FAQ to the DS-3 over at xtreem systems, it's pretty interesting: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=110460

Thanks for that link! It's in my bookmarks now! :)

But look at this:

What motherboard are you going with?

Sh*t... killer chip there...

Is it stable prime95/super pi? Speaking of which can you post some results for superpi 1M?

Hehe, I know it! :D

I'll do some SuperPI 1M now... Even though I'm trying to stop myself from OCing it more... :P
