Ok, well you didn't tell me that. However, was it a fresh install of Windows and it never worked right off the bat? Did it work for a while and then quit? Give me a few more details if you would. If it didn't work right off the bat then try different cables, even plugging it in with the primary although I can't imagine why that would do anything. Try reinstalling Windows. Maybe something screwed up.
If it stopped working afterwards, I would lean towards the drive.
It doesn't read any DVD media in the drive? When you go to Start > Run > compmgmt.msc can you see the media in the drive? Anything?
