My Dell Experience - Never Again

Hello,

I will just simply say that their support infrastructure is absolutely horrible and their warranty support is atrocious at best. This is a personal warning based on my own experiences. If you see a Dell for sale.... run the other way!

Thanks for the warning pagroundhog. Personally ive never bought and never will buy a Dell. Too many friends have had bad experiances with them (far more than other companys). I think you will find most people here have custom build pc's so not to worry. :P

EDIT: Oh and welcome.

my mom just ordered a dell. She says everyone she's talked to that owns one loves theirs, but I'll keep my fingers crossed

I bought a cheap $300 Dell for my sister, its got a Celeron D @ 2.53 GHz (or something close to that), 512 MB Ram and a 80GB HD..havent had any problems yet.

My old dell's harddrive and fan failed. Though the computer is running without the only fan..ohwell. It sucks anyways :)

i have 3 dells, 1 Dell DJ(still like my ipods better), and 1 hp right now and i love all my dells, never had any problems and they run great

I'm on my third dell jukebox Mp3. The first two's output broke and i could only hear on one ear. The warranty covered the first two but now its up so im keeping my fingers crossed on the third. My computer is a dell and its running fine after three or four years. but i still will never go with dell again.

Every Dell we have ever owned has never had any hardware problems. The only problems we had were when my dad deleted some files he wasnt supposed to. So every Dell we have owned has been great.

I have had a lot of Dells and still use one sometimes. Never once had a problem.

And you can upgrade Dells to a certain extent, so dont say you cant.

i have a dell laptop that works great, never have had a problem with it so far. but i still don't like dell..... speaking of which i just got the new dell business catalog thingy and check out what is on the front of it:

"Order up the NEW Dell POS solution"

I have an older Dell Optiplex that is still running strong, my wife has a Dell laptop, and I have the Axim no problems with either of those so far.

first, how about u back that up with some personal experiences.

second, i have owned two dells, and work with a bunch, and have never had any kind of hardware problem, besides harddrives failing after 6 years of usage. third, for the people that try to blame dell on any kind of software issues is not fair because 99.9% of software issues result from the user.

What I read and hear

From reading the computer forums and hearing what people have told me it seems if the Dell system does not need Dells support all is great.

But many who have had problems with their Dell systems and have tried getting help from Dells support they don't tell a very happy story.

Seems if your dealing with Dells Corporate side and not the home user side you get better help.

I also have read of many people trying to get other digital items thriugh Dell like cameras and having their credit cards quickly hit and then finding out that Dell does not have the item to ship right away.

Like all BIG companies selling computer systems some people fall through the cracks but it seems a lot of Dell home buyers get caught in them deep cracks.

Myself I really like the support policies of HP and my new HP computer system has worked great from the first time it booted up. Not one problem.

I opened it up yesterday to check for dust and found it to be really well Engineered and wired really neat. The quality really stands out. IMHO.

I totally agree with that statement!

Seems like a lot of people mess up their computer not knowing what they are doing and instead of figuring out what they did wrong it’s easier to blame the company for making a sub-par product. Which in actuality has nothing to do with the product, but the fact that, that person has no clue on what they are doing and has messed up the product. Then the call for customer service comes into play.

I also see a lot more people posting problems with their home-built computers than you see with people and their stock-corporate computers.

Over all It’s just computer trendy to hate on Dells
