It's possible that the virus has changed a desktop setting. Are you running xp? If so right click on the desktop and make sure show desktop icons is checked. I'm at work right now and can help you better when I get home in about an hour.

I would appreciate that more than you could ever imagine. I am a college student and have class bright and early in the morning...
However, yes I am running windows xp vista, and that was the first thing I tried but "View>Show Desktop Icons" is indeed checked.

John, i just wanted to thank you for your response before. I did some more research and ran unhide.exe and it seems to have worked. I cant believe I still have all my pictures and documents and everything. Once again thank you. I was running microsoft security essentials, but it seems like i will probably go purchase other software. Personally I have usually used stopzilla in the past, just recently it expired and i just didnt have the money to renew but it seems much worth the sacrifice now haha

Open hijackthis, click on open misc tools section, click on open uninstall manager, click on save list and save it. Then copy and paste that log back here.

Then go here to download the latest versions of java and adobe reader.

Then click on fix checked at the bottom.

Download and run ccleaner.

After downloading and installing the program, open it up and click on run cleaner. This will delete all the temporary internet files and system files which will make your system and browser faster.

amazing..i really cant thank you enough...everything seems to be okay, except a few of the items you told me to delete wont go away...like bearshare and aim ive been trying to get rid of forever now, but it still wont work...after a scare like today though, ill take it if thats the worst to come you know...thanks again John =]

What happens when you try uninstalling bearshare and aim? What kind of messages do you get?
