I have yet to drive with the laptop in the truck, right now I'm using the mount for my handheld scanner. And yes I have a data plan on my PDA.

Im agreeing with you on this one. When I saw 'carputer' I thought it was going to be an actual CARPUTER... not a laptop on a post :/

its surprising the amount of people who are rubbishing the idea... im fairly sure geoff didnt just walk into a diy store and think hey you know what i'll do today, stick some metal bits and a piece of board in my truck cause i have nothing better to do.... no, im quite certain he would have thoguht it through, and im also fairly certain he wasnt looking for everyones approval on the project.

christ, theres no pleasing people these days.... :P

Exactly. I was looking online at some professional mounts, and after seeing what they cost I decided to try and build one myself. I tried various configurations before finding the one that worked. Thanks Dave :)

BTW, Why did he do it? And, why not? I'm sure the reason he did it is because he felt like it! God! He wants to be original, what's the problem with that? Yes, he wasted a WHOLE cup holder, big time? :rolleyes:

Thanks, and yes it is stable. Then again I don't plan to drive with the laptop connected, but I'm sure it would be fine if I decided to.
